The Penistone & District Community Partnership is proud to present the Penistone Community Arts Festival 2008!

The Penistone Community Arts Festival is a non-profit, week long series of events brought to you by the many artistic groups Penistone and surrounding areas have to offer. These events will run from Sunday 13th July through to Sunday 20th July 2008.

What started originally as an interesting concept in August of 2007 has since grown to encompass a wide variety of art forms through the dedication of local artists and community figures. With support from groups such as Razzmatazz, the Penistone Cinema Organ Trust, Penistone Theatre Group, Penistone Arts Group (among others) and with additional support provided by the University of Huddersfield and the Penistone & District Community Partnership, the Penistone Community Arts Festival is set to be a display of talent that the people of Penistone can be highly proud of.

The festival itself is not limited to just one or two different art forms, but will instead be featuring a wide variety of events ranging from musical performances, artist galleries and displays through to interactive installations, workshops, open rehearsals and demonstrations.

Our main aim has always been to get people involved in the festival, and as you can see there are plenty of events which reflect this participatory spirit. With a range of interactive events  accompanying the many artistic displays happening throughout the week, this week is definitely the time to be trying out new activities and perhaps things you might not have previously considered. Not only are we looking to highlight the potential of groups in and around Penistone but we hope that you can find something for yourself to enjoy getting involved in as well, thus helping to bring the community closer together.

The festival events will be hosted at a variety of venues, with St. John's Church in particular playing host to a number of performances and artistic displays as a focal point of the Penistone community.

If you would like to know more about the festival, or would be interested in getting involved then please contact Adam Fielding on 01226 766202 or visit the PDCP offices (directions shown below). We look forward to seeing you at one of the many events, and hope you enjoy the 2008 Penistone Community Arts Festival!

A brief outline of the Penistone & District Community Partnership

FlowersThe Penistone & District Community Partnership was started in 2002 by a group of local people, keen to improve the area. Starting with just one member of staff, it has since grown to employ various numbers of staff at different times, depending on funding. Our funding relies heavily on grants and support from the community.

The Partnership received charitable status early in 2006, and became a member of the Development Trust Association in March 2007.

The Partnership depends on local people, their ideas, commitment and support. If you would like to be involved in any of the Partnership's work featured on this website, please fill in an enquiry form.
